Student Orchestra Information
All Students who play in the pit orchestra for their Spotlight school musicals are eligible to apply for the Spotlight Showcase Orchestra.
We are seeking All instruments.
Submissions accepted exclusively through Submittable, an online submission system. Please be sure to give yourself plenty of time before the deadline to submit – should you need any guidance from us regarding Submittable, and don’t hesitate to contact firstname.lastname@example.org with questions or concerns in advance.
Musicians MUST be available for all performances and rehearsals.
The Spotlight Orchestra musicians will be presented to students who not only have musical talent, but who also show leadership ability and efforts to better their community through their art.
Submission period: Now extended through April 1st!
- “T.L.C” Essay: 1-2 pages describing your high school musical theatre experience and how you’ve displayed talent, leadership and community through your artistic work. Be sure to include any of your experiences with Spotlight Education.
- Video of the musician playing the following: Not to exceed 5 minutes.
- 2 Minutes Concert Etude, Prepared Solo Work, Musical Theater (For Rhythm Players) that best demonstrates lyrical and rhythmic versatility on your instrument. 2 Minutes of your proudest playing.
Note: The website only accepts submissions until 11:59pm on Friday, April 1st
Masterclass & Rehearsal Information:
Musicians invited to join the Spotlight Orchestra will be notified by April 8th.
We will send out music in advance to students. At the masterclass they will work with professional musicians and conductors and prepare a piece that will be performed at the Showcase.
The Masterclass will take place on April 23, 2016 at the Orpheum Theatre. Students must attend the Masterclass to participate in the Showcase performance.
*There will be additional rehearsals the week of the Showcase. Those rehearsals will be updated by April 8th.
