Eram Cowlas joined Hennepin Theatre Trust after years of enjoying the organization’s programming and community-building artistic collaborations. She is an award-winning storyteller who brings more than 15 years of communications experience and is excited to be crafting strategic storytelling initiatives that showcase how the Trust drives cultural and economic vitality in Minnesota through leadership of the dynamic Hennepin Theatre District in downtown Minneapolis and educational programming that reaches every area of the state.
Eram spent 12 years as a television news producer, covering moments and events that impact the community, including at KARE 11 News, where she earned an Emmy Award for coverage during the 2011 north Minneapolis tornado. During that career, she developed a strong belief that stories have the power to connect people, to motivate change and to empower us.
After leaving journalism, she worked at 3M, where she led efforts to create a brand-level content hub, which earned the Ragan ACE Award for Best Online Communications Team and MarCom’s Platinum Award for Web Content. She led a team of multimedia storytellers in sharing strategic, brand-building stories.
Eram holds a degree in Communication and Broadcast Journalism from Eastern Illinois University. She fell in love with theater as a freshman in high school while running lights for the school’s production of Inherit the Wind and will jump at any chance to enjoy a live show or concert. Eram is also passionate about music and will travel for good seafood. When not writing, she loves to read, paint and visit museums.
