Hennepin Theatre District Historic Theatres

Dating back to the 1850s, theater has played a major role in the cultural experience of Minneapolis. This exhibition highlights several historic theaters that have existed throughout the 20th century in the Hennepin Theatre District. The area has housed many clubs, cabarets, restaurants and bars and has hosted the second-largest vaudeville circuit outside of New York City.

Thanks to our partners, supporters and the City of Minneapolis, the historic Orpheum, State and Pantages theatres continue to anchor the Hennepin Theatre District to the 21st century.
