The Gallery at The Hennepin

Pantages Theatre, 1916

Dating back to the 1850s, theater has played a major role in the cultural experience of Minneapolis. This exhibition highlights several historic theaters that have existed throughout the 20th century. The area has housed many clubs, cabarets, restaurants and bars, and has hosted the second largest vaudeville circuit outside of New York City.

Learn about the illustrious past that live theater, vaudeville and films have contributed to the cultural experience of downtown Minneapolis. Thanks to the diligent efforts of Hennepin Theatre Trust and the City of Minneapolis, the historic Orpheum, State and Pantages theatres continue to anchor the historic Hennepin Theatre District in the 21st century.

Opens this Friday, October 1, 2021.
