Lit Voices is a monthly series designed to honor and acknowledge community contributions of hometown poets, spoken word and rap artists. This free event will take place in the Jack Link’s Legend Lounge at 900 Hennepin each month and will be emceed by international poet, co-founder and frontman for Edupoetic Enterbrainmen, Tiyo Siyolo.

Each event will include a DJ – the four DJs who will rotate through each event are DJ Snuggles, Dot La Roc, Huh? What??, and Anthony Smoke D.

Joe Davis is a poet, educator, and cultural architect based in Minneapolis, MN. His work lives at the intersection of faith, justice, and the arts, employing writing, theater, music, and dance as transformative forces of resilience and liberation. He is the frontman of emerging soul, funk, and spoken word ensemble, The Poetic Diaspora, and the co-founder &  Artistic Director of H-Cubed: Harrison, Healing, Harmony, a grassroots cultural movement centered on healing through the arts. As a student and educator, he has served as teaching artist at dozens of high schools and universities and most recently as the Artist-in-Residence at Luther Seminary, graduating with a Masters in Theology of the Arts.
