Made Here Alumni exhibit

Welcome to the Made Here Alumni Artist exhibition. The exhibition features the work of Ta-coumba Aiken, Leslie Barlow, Jim Denomie, Philipo Dyauli, Frank Gaard, Pamela Gaard, Camille Gage, Christopher Harrison, Caitlin Karolczak, R.J. Kern, Nick Knutson, Steven Lang, Greg Lecker, Reggie LeFlore, Marlena Myles and Brian Skalak. These artists were instrumental in the evolution of Made Here, a Public Art Project of Hennepin Theatre Trust that ran from 2013 through 2018.

Since it launched in 2013, Made Here produced 350 window displays with more than 425 artists in vacant commercial spaces, making it the largest initiative of its kind in the country. Seven downtown commercial spaces that had a combined vacancy rate of more than 35 years were leased within the first 12 months Made Here was in operation due to the impact of its presence in our district.

Made Here showcased Minnesota’s wealth of artistic talent to activate the vibrant downtown Minneapolis Cultural District. From locally created visual displays in vacant or under-utilized storefronts to pop-up parks, art galleries and live performances in commercial spaces, Made Here brought the rich diversity of the Twin Cities’ cultural community was to the front and center of the city for all to enjoy.

The Cultural District stretches from the Walker Art Center and the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden to the Mississippi Riverfront to create a unified, attractive and walkable destination to benefit residents, businesses and property owners, artists and visitors alike.

You will find the work of Made Here artists in the permanent collections of the Walker Art Center and Minneapolis Institute of Arts. Many are also represented in a wide range of local galleries including Bockley and Soo Visual Arts and have shown Internationally with work in prominent private collections.
