Masterclasses give Spotlight Education schools the opportunity to supplement and enhance their own musical theater curriculum by gaining insights and inspiration from local and touring theater professionals. Topics include audition technique, singing technique, movement, orchestra, technical theater, dance and more.
Community Conversations provide educators and students from all backgrounds a safe space to discuss, explore and reflect on topics and issues high school theatre communities face across the state of Minnesota.

Theatre Director and Educator Conference
We are excited to announce that we are opening up this year’s Theater Director and Educator Conference, presented in partnership with Perpich Center for Arts Education, to your ideas! The conference is planned for July 28-29, 2021, and the modality (in-person, hybrid, or virtual) is still TBD, based upon ever evolving MDH recommendations and your preferences.
The theme this year is “Making Space for Joy,” and we are focusing on a few key ideas under that broad umbrella:
- Ideas that energize and inspire your teaching/artistry
- Anti-racist practices that build communities of belonging
- Strategies for taking care of ourselves and our students
We also welcome you to submit a conference session proposal, to bring your experience, expertise, ideas, and questions to the broader field. Registration information coming soon.
