About our campaign

This year marks the 20-year anniversary of Hennepin Theatre Trust’s education programming — Spotlight  honors high schools and students by formally recognizing the extraordinary achievements and process of developing the young artists, onstage and offstage, in Minnesota’s high school theater programs.

We’re celebrating the achievements and efforts of this year’s participants who have embraced pandemic-related changes and to honor all who have come before — contributing to the bright legacy of our program — with a one-day-only fundraiser on Tuesday, September 29.

From its humble beginnings, Spotlight Education grew to become an essential part of arts education, helping students build confidence, critical thinking, empathy, a sense of community and knowledge of theater in more than 100 Minnesota schools.

Daily, we’re rising to meet and overcome the challenges presented by the coronavirus pandemic. While we may not be able to meet in person, our leap into online programming continues to provide connection and development for students statewide [read related article].
