Nicole Houff is a Minneapolis photographer who has a mild obsession with Barbie. Influenced by imagery from the 50s and 60s, she creates scenes with the dolls in studio that have a sense of whimsy mixed with a little sarcasm. To her, Barbie is a positive, strong and empowering figure and Nicole tries to utilize her to create conversation. The show will include 18 – 22 x 30 inch framed works and 4 to 6 – 36 x 50 inch prints.
More information is available on Nicole Houff’s website.
This program is supported by Minneapolis College, Great Streets Program and City Center, Ryan Companies.
This is part of an ongoing partnership between Hennepin Theatre Trust and Minneapolis College to showcase artistic creations in apparel technology, architectural technology, visual arts, photography and digital imaging, theater and music, and more. Students, alumni and faculty will be on hand for this opening of our new downtown gallery space.
